Job Description :
• Work as a senior member of a team of 10 senior and junior administrators.
• Administer Flytxt’s network of Solaris 10 x64 servers, dealing with all aspects of OS configuration including hardware, filesystem, network, users/security, backups, monitoring, OS tuning/benchmarking.
• Deploy, manage and monitor Flytxt Neon production, QA and Development installations.
• Work on high-availability 24/7 Production environments.
• Design and implement OS FLAR images, use Jumpstart servers for automated OS rollout.
• Design and rollout software packages, manage patches and upgrades.
• Write scripts to automate all aspects of OS configuration and management.
• Change and configuration management.
• Troubleshoot OS/software problems, researching solutions via the Internet and sending support requests to suppliers.
• Troubleshoot Flytxt’s software platform and communicate with software engineering to resolve problems.
• Tune the operation of the platform and suggest improvements.
• Work closely with software engineers to understand changes and new features.
• Mentor and train Junior Operations Engineers
Desired Candidate Profile :
• 10+ years experience in installation , configuration and management of large/complex enterprise systems.
• Very strong experience in Solaris system administration, strong preference for Solaris 10.
• Experience of running 24/7 Production environments with strict SLAs.
• Able to work both hands-on and as a designer.
• Strong knowledge in TCP/IP Networking, routing, firewalling, DNS.
• Strong understanding of OS internals - file systems, IO, storage, processes/threads, virtual memory.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex systems under customer pressure.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Able to manage tasks, set goals and assess priorities.
• Good English and communication skills.
• Fluency in at least one scripting language (bash, ksh, Perl, Python, C, or similar)
• Ideally experience with Solaris Zones/Containers, SMF and ZFS.
• Ideally experience in one RDBMS, ideally Oracle, working knowledge of SQL
• Ideally experience in Java Application Servers (JBoss), JMS messaging
• Ability to handle on-call duty and periodic work as part of rotation
• Able to travel on-site to customer deployments on occasion to aid with new installations and troubleshooting.
